How do I delete my account, and how is personal data erased?
MetaFrazo is built so you stay in control of personal data — both your own dashboard account and the Jira user data we process on your organization's behalf. This article explains what we store, how to delete your own account, and how deletion works across the wider system.
Deleting your MetaFrazo dashboard account
You can permanently delete your own account at any time — no support ticket needed.
- Open the profile menu in the top-right of the dashboard and choose Profile.
- Scroll to the Danger Zone and select Delete my account.
- Confirm. We email you a confirmation link that is valid for one hour — this verifies it's really you, which matters because the action cannot be undone.
- Click the link in that email. Your account is erased and you're signed out.
Why the email step? Many people sign in with Google or another identity provider and have no password to re-enter, so a one-time emailed link is the secure, universal way to confirm a permanent action. The link is single-use and tied to the address we sent it to, so a link meant for someone else can't be used to delete your account.
What gets deleted
When you confirm, we permanently remove:
- Your login identity — email, password or credential, and active sessions.
- Your profile details in your organization — your name and email as shown to teammates.
- The personal content of your support messages to us.
This all happens in a single, all-or-nothing operation — there is no half-deleted state. If any part can't complete, the whole deletion rolls back rather than leaving your data partly removed. We retain one minimal, irreversible record of the request (a one-way hash, holding no readable personal data) purely to prove the erasure was carried out — a requirement under GDPR's accountability principle.
If you are the only owner of an organization
Deleting an owner needs a little care so nobody is locked out:
- You're the last member of the organization — the organization is deactivated and your account is erased.
- You're the sole owner but other members remain — deletion is paused so those teammates aren't left without an owner. Transfer ownership to someone else first (or contact support to help), then delete your account. See Roles and permissions for how ownership works.
Your Jira data and your end users
Some MetaFrazo dashboards include data about the people in your Jira site — assignees, reporters, comment authors, and so on. For that data, your organization is the data controller and MetaFrazo is the processor. Because of that split, deleting your dashboard account never touches your Jira event data: that data belongs to your organization, not to your personal login. This is the same controller/processor boundary described in How is my organization's data isolated from other tenants?.
Jira-derived personal data is removed in two ways instead:
- An Atlassian account is closed. MetaFrazo regularly reports to Atlassian which Atlassian accounts it still holds data for, on roughly a 7-day cycle. When Atlassian tells us an account has been closed, we automatically erase that person's identifying data from our systems — no action needed on your part.
- You uninstall MetaFrazo. When the last MetaFrazo connector is removed from your Jira site, we keep your data for a 30-day grace period so a reinstall is seamless, then permanently delete it. If your site runs more than one MetaFrazo edition side by side, the countdown only starts once the last of them is removed — an active edition is never wiped because another was uninstalled.
We're candid about one limit here: personal data scattered inside historical Jira event payloads is minimized on a best-effort basis when an individual account closes, with the 30-day uninstall purge as the definitive backstop. This is the same trade-off explained in GDPR, NIS2, DORA — what does MetaFrazo give me?.
Making a data request
Need a copy of your data, a correction, or a deletion you can't perform yourself? Use the Contact support menu in the top-right of the dashboard, or your usual support channel, and we'll handle it within the GDPR timeline.
