User Lifecycle Heatmap(2.6.7)

User lifecycle events are among the most compliance-sensitive activities in Jira. When someone is created, they gain access. When someone is deleted, that access should be revoked. When someone is updated, their permissions may have changed. This visual tracks all three across time so you can verify that the pattern matches your HR and IT processes.

Each event is classified by the type of account it is about. A person's account is the one to reconcile with HR. Jira marks an app account as belonging to an app or integration, including built-in ones such as Automation for Jira, and a customer account as belonging to a service-desk customer, for example someone who signed up on your portal or was added as a customer; those follow your apps and your service-desk customers rather than joiners and leavers. An account Jira did not return a type for is shown as unknown, and an erased account as erased; neither is counted as a person.

A week with multiple deletions of people's accounts and no creations is a potential offboarding event — worth verifying that it was authorized. A week with many updates but no creations or deletions may indicate privilege changes happening without formal approval.

What you can conclude

• Deletions of people's accounts outside known offboarding cycles are worth verifying with HR and IT.
• App and customer accounts are reconciled against your installed apps and your service-desk customers, not against HR records.
• High update counts with no corresponding creations or deletions may indicate role escalation for existing accounts.
• A pattern of lifecycle events that follows known HR cycles is the easiest one to reconcile with HR records.
